Pioneers Volunteer Time Gains in Value
The time Pioneers invest in the community has increased in
value to $17.19 per hour, according to statistics compiled
by the Independent Sector. The value of volunteer
time is based on the average hourly earnings of all
non-agricultural workers as determined by the Bureau of
Labor Statistics. Independent Sector takes this
figure and increases it by 12 percent to estimate for
fringe benefits. In 2002-03, when the value of the
volunteer hour was $16.54, Verizon TelecomPioneers
contributed more than $35 million worth of service to
communities throughout the
United States. |
