 In July, Junior Achievement (JA), one of our national program partners, formally inducted TelecomPioneers President Marty Lee into the JA Professional Staff Hall of Fame. Marty is one of only 14 individuals to be inducted into this prestigious group in Junior Achievement’s nearly 90-year history.Marty’s 30-year career with Junior Achievement included countless recognition awards for his innovation, diligence, and dedication. He contributed his enthusiasm and expertise to many JA locations across the country where he served. Marty held numerous executive roles at JA before retiring in 2003, at which time he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer. Marty became President of TelecomPioneers in January 2005. We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Marty!  PINS FOR PIONEERSTelecomPioneers is working to broaden the base of support for our volunteer efforts and ensure that the legacy of Pioneering continues for future generations. We will be piloting a Pioneer bowl-a-thon on October 27th in Colorado. The pilot will enable Colorado Pioneers to socialize with new and prospective members, share their Pioneer spirit with others and fund raise through a fun, family-friendly event. As a public charity, it is critical we expand support of our volunteer work to include the communities we serve. The bowl-a-thon will provide a venue for recruiting new Pioneers as well as generate visibility and financial support from friends and family of Pioneers. Following the pilot of this event in the fall, there are plans to expand and hold bowl-a-thons simultaneously in three Pioneer communities in early spring of 2008. If your community is chosen, we hope you will participate!  |
