Fort Pitt Sharing and Caring
Boat Ride 2006
For the past 19 years Fort Pitt Chapter has branded with local veterans
group Sharing and Caring for their annual Veterans Boat Ride. Every
September for one week hospitalized veterans from Pittsburgh and surrounding
areas are treated to a day on the Majestic. This includes lunch,
social activities and gift bags. In addition to assisting veterans on
the boat, our chapter obtains items and packs 1,000 gift bags. We also
have an annual Sock Drive throughout the company. We collect
approximately 2,000 pairs. Verizon also generously allows the use of
their Transportation Department to store and transport the gift bags.
This has become one of our annual projects, in which we have not only have
the support of the company, a number of pioneer volunteers, but also the
opportunity to brand with another organization in helping bring happiness to
"our much deserving Veterans".
