Norwesco Club distributes 2,064
dictionaries
Through the Verizon Reads Program, the Norwesco
Club of the Verizon West Chapter in Everett, Washington, teamed with
The Dictionary Project organization,
www.dictionaryproject.org,
to give 2,064 dictionaries to third graders in five school districts.
The Dictionary Project provided the Norwesco Club with the
dictionaries at a low cost. The Dictionary Project is designed to
aid third grade teachers in their goal to see all their students
leave at the end of the year as good writers, active readers, and
creative thinkers. The students may keep the dictionaries for use
throughout their school career. |

Beep Ball World Series volunteers
needed
Volunteers are needed for the 2004 Beep Ball
World Series games in Columbus, Ohio August 4-7. The Series needs
base operators, baseline judges, field equipment, service members,
hospitality personnel and more. You can help defray costs by
adopting a ball. For $35, you can buy a ball to be used in the

NY Student receives a
TelecomPioneers Scholarship
Caitlin McElrath of
Saugerties, NY, earned a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 through
the 2004 TelecomPioneers Scholarship Program. She was one of 13
recipients selected from among 158 applications submitted by
students in the United States and Canada. Ms. McElrath plans to
pursue a degree in athletic training at the University of Delaware.
“Caitlin excelled in the classroom and in the community,” said
Stephen Kohn, Vice President of Verizon TelecomPioneers. “We are
proud of her accomplishments and confident that she will continue to
achieve excellence in the future.” |
