Upper Darby LMC provides "Aid for Friends"
Last year, Liberty Bell's Upper Darby Life
Member Club and St. Dorothy's teamed up to bring the "Aid for
Friends" program to the five-county Greater Philadelphia area.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, “Aid For Friends” now
serves about 2,200 people in the five-county Greater Philadelphia
area. Its goal is to help homebound "client/friends" maintain their
cherished independence by aiding them in their quest to remain in
their own homes, for as long as possible, and to enhance their
quality of life. The LMC prepares meals and delivers them to area
shut-ins.
“Sadly, many people don’t have the option to stay at home as my
mother did,” said Ellie Dickerson, president of the Upper Darby LMC, “but
Aid For Friends gives them the dignity to remain as independent as
they can for as long as they can.”
