Volunteer programs a value to companies
The Points of Light Foundation has released a report
revealing that companies like GE, Levi Strauss & Co, Pitney Bowes,
and The Walt Disney Company agree that workplace volunteer programs,
which encourage employees to share their time and talent, help
businesses achieve company objectives and deliver on their values.
In the report, CEOs speak candidly about how being a good corporate
citizen influences business success. For more information, go to

WJ Denver Chapter receives thanks
from Major Callahan
For more than a
year, the members of the WJ Denver Chapter have been sending care
packages to the troops in Afghanistan through Major Bob Callahan, a
Verizon manager in the army reserves. Following is an excerpt from
one of his letters of appreciation. "I received the three boxes you
sent yesterday. You guys are truly incredible! My
roommates couldn't believe what awesome packages you guys put
together. The footballs are great. After we're done throwing them
at each other, we are going to give them to some of the local kids.
There is currently a toy/clothing drive going on for the local
kids. If people are asking what to send, you could suggest toys or
clothes for these kids. If they would rather send things for us,
your idea of sports equipment is great. The video tape you guys made
is outstanding! Home can seem far away sometimes over here, but
seeing everyone on that tape made it seem alot closer. It really
meant alot. Please thank everyone for me. For more information on
WJ Denver's support of our troops, please visit
