NY Life Members repair toys for needy
children
The three life member clubs of Albany, Troy and
Schenectady, N.Y.commemorated 15 years of a partnership with the
Albany N.Y. Police Athletic League (PAL) repairing toys for
underprivileged children. Under the leadership of Ken Rapsard and
the helping hands of Lynne and Don Strevell, SallyAnn Purcell,
Walden Briggs, Don Haswell and Bob Bouvier, this group of dedicated
life members have, from 1989 to now, repaired and distributed over
75,000 toys to needy kids at Christmastime. Since 1989, the group
has volunteered over 170,000 hours. The toys are donated by national
toy manufacturers and are all new, returned to the stores as
defective. Many need only a simple adjustment, a small repair, or
just new batteries. The TelecomPioneers do most all of the repair
work. |
