Sneaker Drive runs well in Rochester
The Frontier Pioneers in
Rochester, NY, partnered with the Rochester Rotary Club to collect
used sneakers for recycling. Frontier employees donated
approximately 500 pairs of sneakers to the Rochester Rotary Club for
the "Rotary Re-grinds" project. These sneakers will be used to make
sports fields and running tracks. Several of the sneakers were
gently used and will become "Rotary Re-treads." The Rotary Club will
distribute them to children and adults needing footwear, both
domestically and worldwide. The first pick-up that occurred in
October has already been distributed to the families effected by the
storms in Florida. The second pick-up was designated to the
Salvation Army and will stay in Rochester for families in need. |

Join a Talking Book Machine Repair Group
The TelecomPioneers cooperate with the Library
of Congress in the repair of the cassette players that provide books
and magazines on cassette to the blind and sight impaired. They work
directly assisting talking-book libraries in their own area to
ensure an ample supply of audio playback machines is available for
talking-book readers.
Help blind and handicapped adults and children embrace the joy
of reading. Stimulate the education of blind and handicapped adults
and children, and help them meet their informational and
recreational needs. Assist libraries with serving blind and
physically handicapped readers. Contact your local chapter for
